Passing through Kalorama, a neighborhood former President Obama and Ivanka Trump recently purchased homes in; I deliberately ended up in Upper Northwest Washington DC. Hillwood Estate lies on twenty-five acres of gardens and woodlands inspirited by founder Marjorie Merriweather Post in 1957. Marjorie Merriweather Post daughter of C.W Post inherited and directed which came to be General Foods, purveyor of popular breakfast cereals as well as Jell-O and Maxwell House Coffee’s. The philanthropist, art collector, patriot and internationalist lived lavishly and was hospitable to many guests at a time. A highly respected American heiress, Post would trial products on guests for lunch, such as new Jell-O flavors. Her passions intertwined, sustaining a sparkling life. Social and private, Hillwood Estates was occupied in Autumn and Spring.
